War against authority at all times. Can’t help but picture the very Potemkin crew as those who guillotined that very Antoinette once upon a time. Similar motives should be why. Bu then the anger coming out of justified demands in shape of brutal violence. Is it somehow artified through movies and tales and etc… Is it life itself what provokes fiction or vice versa? Romanticism vs realism. Grass is always greener on the other side. You tell me.
How could not I jump in the bandwagon and not have anything to say on Inception? Given the fact that; me being one of those hardcore Christopher Nolan geeks! Geek and proud. So there!
I will skip getting into details, acting as a smart ass movie critic, knowing it all…etc. So much to tell anyway. But there is one thing cannot be left unsaid. It was a pleasure seeing the usual loyal Nolan actors nailing it such as Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe along with the great Marion Cotillard and ever-psycho looking Tom Hardy. BUT. There was something missing. Something big. Someone. A talent. Real one. Christian Bale. He would have made a way better Cobb than that Di Caprio guy did. I have to admit that Leoboy has gone beyond his acting boundaries (should be Nolan’s directing skills, ahem!) but still he was not standing firmly as the character Cobb. (Nolan geeks would have remembered the name Cobb from the movie The Following! I am so feeling high with the references from back then!)
A part of me was left unsatisfied. Bale-less. Which reminded me of Danny Boyle’s giving up on Ewan McGregor in order to work with Leo boy in The Beach. Apparently Inception is already a huge success unlike The Beach’s failure once upon a time and Leo performs much better than he did in The Beach but why settling for average when you could have the best?!?!
Rant over.
Here is a live recording from Inception Premiere. Where Hans Zimmer performing a piece from the OST with Johnny Marr. Take this. Another reason to love this film!
Is it me or Peter Sarsgaard has one of the most fantastic voices ever? It is so good that I get to ignore the acting at times. Not that he can’t act or anything. He does act! The voice just steals the show. Don’t be going ‘Oh, so John Malkovich’ now. Yes. A bit. But aren’t we all being John Malkovich-es every now and then?! tee hee
“I’m scared in my own apartment. I’m scared 24 hours a day. But not necessarily in New York. I actually feel pretty comfortable in New York. I get scared like in Sweden. You know, it’s … kind of empty, they’re all drunk. Everything works. You know, if you stop at a stop light and don’t turn your engine off, people come over and talk to you about it. You go to the medicine cabinet and open it up and there will be a little poster saying: “In case of suicide – call…” You turn on the TV, there’s an ear operation. These things scare me. New York? No.”
